This is the first Beta test version released to the new beta Test Crew.
This file only requires that you change the current REMOTLOG that you have
to this version and then run it. Soon there will be a Configuration file
to run if I ever get around to it.
Some of the new changes real quick is the addition of a new keyword CUMULATIVE
which will now give you a list of all the users that have hung up on your
system and how many times they have done so.
There is also a new List of Daily Carrier Droppers (to phrase it such) this
will give you a list of how many times just that crew has dropped carrier.
Several cosmetic changes to the program have been enacted. As you notice them
let me know what you think.
Files Included.
REMOTLOG.EXE V1.42 04-92/2I
BETA.DOC This File
REMOTLOG.CFG Config File for REMOTLOG w/all options
okc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
21 Apr 92 08:00
Changes, Added the New REMOTLOG.KEY file system in addition to the
Configuration file registration code requirement. (Future changes for
Registered users are coming).
Added a new option NODROP.
It is used
NODROP [0..9] [String]
NoDrop 0 RAFiles Auto User Exit (Example)
This option will allow up to 10 different predefined strings. If the string
directly preceeds a Lost Carrier message then the Lost Carrier will be
ignored.
A plain key file will be included with the archive. Keep a copy of it
somewhere because REMOTLOG will at times delete it.
The date on messages subject line has been changed to avoid RA or any mail
processor linking them together. It is now a randomly generated number.
Some problems with LogFile deletions were cleared up. Date system used to
insure this occurred has been revamped.
Eliminated some excess coding that wasn't needed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
26 Apr 92 05:03
Added the option for Backup Files to be generated with Files.BBS listings
when sorted is an option.
Fixed the sorting code to notice blank lines (Hope it works this time)
Eliminated some more coding I (Think) was redundant. Haven't noticed any
reason as to why not yet.
Changed the Upload logging to group them all together for each person. Up
to a total of 30 per message.
REMOTLOG will now properly handle the NODROP with RAMail and any other
strange logging programs.
The FD & RA log file combo is now supported.. (Untested - Alex??). Should
work without a hitch. But then this is reality and not wonderland. Given
how this is handled at this time. There will be a degredation in speed when
FD entries are encountered. Also the linecounter will not reflect the
current line status when processing the FD sections of the file.
Calls by Baud changed to Calls by BPS Rate.
Changed some coding that could cause a drop carrier message to not get
posted and even totally ignored.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
29 Apr 92 12:20 p.m.
Fixed the problem of RA hanging on any Download line that required the
program to update a specific file. This would only occur if the FD/RA
combined log function was being utilized. Apparently a file got closed in
the process that should have stayed open. Problem has been eliminated.
Fixed a peculiar problem which I hadn't noticed. The combined message count
would never get incremented. Figured out what was wrong and that is also
corrected.
Fixed the problem with the Zipping up of files etc. Program didn't had too
much heap space and wouldn't give any up to misc utilities.

The Function for Zipping FD files was already included in RA. Simply
specify that you want DELETEFD and it will be zipped along with the RA
Files.
A new option ARCHIVER has been added. I was thinking of this a while back
and finally got the push to do it. You must tell it the command line as
well as in PKZIP -m this as we all know will move the file into the archive
deleting it as soon as it is zipped up.
REMOTLOG will now search the system for the RA environment variable. If
found it will look in that directory for the CONFIG/FILES/MESSAGES.RA files.
Otherwise it must be in the current directory.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
20 May 92 08:14 a.m. 1.42ß2X
Modified the environment variable search section. It would not properly
parse the environment variable. Therefore people would have problems
finding if not even opening Config.Ra and various other files.
Added a new option for the cumulative logoffs. By using MINIMUMTIME ### you
can have the system only show you those cumulative logoffs that are as low
as Mintime or higher.
Found another problem with the combined message read logging option so it
was also fixed.
Fixed the problem as to why the Normal logoffs would not get incremented or
at least I hope so. Couldn't find an outstanding anomaly here but we will
see what happens.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
UN May 92 99:99 d.t 1.42ß2Y
Made some change for this version. Can't seem to recall exactly what it was
I waited too long to update this file.
Added an option now to have REMOTLOG only display in the cumulative listing
of those that dropped carrier. Only those people who have hung up a
given amount of times or more.
NEW OPTION ****** : MINIUMUMTIME ##
Added as well an option to only have certain people sent the message that they
dropped carrier only if they have dropped carrier # amount of times.
NEW OPTION ****** : MINDROPCARR ##
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
29 May 92 10:38 a.m. 1.43ß2Z
Made a few more changes. Got the logging of some REMOTLOG information to
properly go out to the file.
Fixed a problem when you did not have a messagefile created and cumulative
was active.
Released version of this program. At this point is should be in proper
working order.
I thank all you beta testers for having helped.
